Google Desktop Released For Mac
Google has released its Google Desktop for all Mac users out there who have been waiting for it to be released on the platform.
Currently Mac OS X comes with Spotlight, which is a search feature many Mac users currently implement when searching the web. This could be changing very quickly though with this announcement from Google.
The good news for Google is that Google Desktop for Mac has the ability to use the same exact plug-ins which are used for the Spotlight search software. This will allow Mac users to switch over to Google Desktop without having to get all new plug-ins.
The easy transition should push a lot of people towards Google Desktop, which appears to be the superior platform. The program will work by tapping the “Command” key twice. The small search window wil display and show the 10 most accurate search results as soon as you start typing them in, similar to the way which it functions on Windows Vista.
Google should try to break into the Mac userbase with this platform as it is a great tool to find files which before may have been hidden as you can searc both your computer and the internet with great security and accuracy.
