Apple Sells 100 Millionth iPod And Makes History

After five years of the iPod being on the market and completely dominating the competition Apple has announced the latest milestone for its mp3 device.

Apple announced on Monday that they have sold their 100 millionth iPod making it the fastest-selling music player in history. Steve Jobes, the CEO of Apple, stated that Apple wanted to thank everybody for the support and success of the iPod. The release of the original iPod came back in November of 2001 and since then has gone on to sell, well now you know, 100 million units.

The player is now a staple in the America lifestyle with just about everybody in every location having an iPod on and playing in some way shape or form. Apple has recently taken this success into other realms as well with the release of Apple’s iTV service which allows users to watch videos from iTunes on their TV via a set-top-box device similar to a TiVO.

Apple is also getting ready to launch the iPhone this June which will combine a state-of-the-art cell phone with an iPod. The device will carry a hefty price tag but will feature some amazing technology such as a full-featured touch-screen to handle all of the functions of the device.

Five years later and Apple continues to go strong with iTunes, and the upcoming iPhone. Who knows what the next five years could bring as in the last there have already been ten new models of the iPod. In the next five, Apple could bring on ten more and have 200 million units sold, especially at the rate they are going.
