What is a paper essay?
A paper essay is a very broad category. The student may be in school, in college and may even be a post doctoral student. Thus the level of maturity expected of student essays is very vast. The subject of paper essays can also be very wide ranging. A paper may be an academic essay, as part of the academic curriculum or it may be intended for a school or college journal and may be non-academic in nature. However, paper essays by students are implied in most cases.
Such papers need to follow stringent rules such as styles (like MLA style and the Chicago style) when it is at an advanced level like for master’s students or doctoral or post doctoral students. For school students, they need to be written in a format but that is rather flexible and does not carry much academic excesses. For school students, the length of the student essay is also very short. It is usually between 500 and 1000 words whereas for college students, 2500-3000 words are taken as a minimum.
At a school level they usually do not require the MBA essays to take in critical material. One deals with the basic concepts, basic laws and primary texts. At the undergraduate level, a certain amount of critical material has to be brought in and by the master’s level, the student is expected to be aware of the basics of the major streams of critical commentary. At a doctoral level, one is expected to take into account all critical material and the task is an imposing one by all means.
Papers are part of the process to let the student write down and present her or his views. Student essays are designed to encourage to student to think about the text and the concepts. Student essays at the basic school level deal primarily in clichйs but in some subjects they also allow the student to express their thoughts without being influenced by any critical commentary. Such student essays including management term papers are interesting to read as they allow one to see what the student thinks and may also shed new light on the text or concept. In case of scientific concepts and laws, the student has to be either right or wrong but the student essay allows the opportunity for the student to explain her or his understanding of it fully. In doing so, the student can clarify whatever doubts she or he may have regarding the topic and form a better understanding of it.
A paper essay is thus very helpful for students and is an interesting form of evaluation for teachers as well. Student essays are being encouraged more nowadays as opposed to more formal kinds of examination. A student essay also allows the student more time to think about the subject and thus come up with better answers or better and more fuller expressions of their understanding of the subject.
