Arranging landlords insurance
When arranging Landlords Insurance it is important to remember that there are several different types of cover available ranging from the contents, buildings, liability and so on. The higher the level of cover you require, the higher the premium you will obviously pay. There are many different insurers who each offer different cover at different rates so it always pays to use a broker to find the best deal.
Usually a landlords policy will not provide any cover for the contents of the tenant staying in the property, it will be their own responsibility to arrange their own cover. You may be able to find some landlords contents insurance which will also cover the tenants belongings but its very unlikely.
When you insure your building you will want to make sure you insure it for the rebuild value and not the resale price which will nearly always differ. You can usually find a rebuild calculator on the landlords buildings Insurance page which will guide you through working out the right value of your property. However you should never rely on calculators and should get a professional buildings survey instead. Forward Message
