Crossing Cup will be a nice flash game for anyone looking for a quick soccer fix. The tournament aspect adds a really nice level of purpose to the game. It isn’t just a pickup and play quick match. You have a little extra motivation to win. Thankfully, setting up a tournament only takes a few extra seconds so it is still possible to just quit mid-game. This means it is still good for anyone who just has a few minutes to play.
The main game is built for any type of player as well. The controls are very simple to learn. Anyone familiar with online Games should be used to aiming and firing with the arrow keys and the spacebar. There are some faults with the main kicker though. It isn’t always clear whether he is in the right position for the kick you want and that can make things a little frustrating. Mastering the kick is half the fun though, and you really don’t have to worry about pulling off fancy kicks in the first few levels. Don’t try a bicycle kick when a volley kick will do. Defensive gameplay isn’t bad either. Watching the full setup is a little tedious but pulling off the perfect dive is really satisfying. It also serves to break up the gameplay and make you think on your feet a little bit.
Overall, this should be a good little game for anyone who wants some soccer action that offers a little bit more than the average point and click version.
